Gulp tslint and tslint cli discrepency
I'm new to gulp and tslint and trying to understand why I'm seeing different linting errors depending on the way I run the linting process.
Our project has a gulp task which looks like this:
const gulp = require('gulp');
const ts = require('gulp-typescript');
const tsProject = ts.createProject('tsconfig.json', { allowJs: false });
const tslint = require('gulp-tslint');
gulp.task('tslint', function() {
return tsProject.src()
.pipe(tslint({
configuration: 'tslint.json'
}))
.pipe(tslint.report());
});
And, of course, we also have a tslint.json
file at root level with the linting rules.
So far I'm under the impression that when we run the gulp task, the rules from tslint.json
are applied.
However, today I wanted to try tslint CLI. I used the following command:
tslint -p tsconfig.json -c tslint.json 'src/**/*.ts?(x)'
I noticed that CLI cmd gave me a lot more errors than the gulp task (when applicable).
I did a simple test. We have a rule to always enforce semicolon and in one of the files I removed a semicolon and ran gulp task. As expected I got an error in the stdout. But when I ran tslint though CLI, it found many errors throughout the app.
So, what causes the discrepency in the linting results?
gulp tslint
