AudioKit: Can I cutoff/remove sound below a specified dB level for a particular frequency range?

0

It would be like taking an audio input containing sound at a frequency of 250-500 Hz, then modifying it to shift volume (in dB ideally) down 50dB for that frequency range. The result would be that sounds in that frequency below 50 dB would be gone and sounds at 50-60dB would be at about a whisper (effectively a 0-10dB sound), 60-75dB would be quiet conversational level (effectively a 10-25 dB sound). Is there a way to do this?

I’m thinking the AKEqualizerFilter seems appropriate here, but the objective dB shift is not the same as gain manipulation. Because I’m not talking about % of volume as a quiet sound only becomes quieter, not lost. I'm looking to lose audio data below a particular dB.

Any help or direction would be much appreciated. I'm attempting a proof of concept to build upon and the AKEqualizerFilter isn't quite the accuracy I'm looking for.

AKEqualizerFilter(player, centerFrequency: 375, bandwidth: 125, gain: 0.25)

Ultimately, I'll be looking to chain a few of these together to represent a range of frequency losses.

Also I'll need to figure out how to ensure the audio output + device volume can accurately simulate "only a 10 dB sound"...but that's a problem for another day!
