Redirect to particular path with ID after logging in with facebook using omniauth

So I have a rails app, that allows users to post feeds regarding events.
For this, I have a path that goes by 'mydomain.com/events/:id/posts/new'

Which is shared with people on social media platforms, when a user clicks on the link, it is first checked if the user is logged in, if not the user is redirected to the login page, else the user is redirected to the form.

Once the user clicks login with facebook, they are authenticated and redirected back to the new posts path. But I wish to redirect him to the new posts path for the particular event the user clicked the link for.

I tried creating an environment variable like request.env['event_id'] everytime the user clicked the link, and then passing to the path once they were authenticated. redirect_to new_event_post_path(request.env['event_id']) but the result for that returns nil
