CastError: Cast to ObjectId failed for value “image” at path “_id” for model “User”

So I have the following user schema in mongoose

const mongoose = require('mongoose');

const UserSchema = mongoose.Schema({
firstName: {
type: String,
required: true
},

lastName: {
type: String,
required: true
},

email: {
type: String,
required: true
},

phone: {
type: String,
required: true
},

password: {
type: String,
required: true
}
});

module.exports = User = mongoose.model('User', UserSchema);

I have initialized and used gridfs to upload images to my database and it works just fine. How ever when I visit the route below, I get the above error. Here's the route.

router.get('/image', (req, res) => {
gfs.files.find({}, (err, returnedFile) => {
if (err) {
return console.log(err);
} else {
res.render('image', {
src: returnedFile.filename
});
}
});
});

I have not in any way altered the _id property of the user schema and my request does not even go to it so I can't seem to figure out where I went wrong. My Stacktrace doesn't show me the line where this occurred either. Any help would be much appreciated.
