How to use foreach to load xml content for multiple servers (powershell)

-1

I am new to powershell and learning to make a report using powershell:

there is a list of servers and I want to use foreach loop to load xml data from each server and produce an output. below is sample script:

$serverlist = gc ".list.txt"

foreach ($server in $serverlist)

{

$xml = New-object xml

$xml.load ($serverc$xmlfile)

write-host $server: $xml.hardwaretype

}

problem, the script runs on a single server from the list of server and quite.

do I have to unload xml and then reload xml data for next server in the list? how?

thanks in advance.

  • Your code has syntax errors and won't run as posted; also, please format it properly. What does "and quite" mean?

  • when I edit the question, it shows me proper code, however, when I post the same code/question, it removes certain things from the code.

  • That's why you need to follow the instructions that my previous comment linked to. Even leaving rendering aside, however, you source code itself has syntax errors (whitespace after method name, before (; lack of quoting of the method argument; $server: breaks).

  • $xml = New-Object xml; $null -eq $xml.close; $xml.close() will tell you that an [xml] (System.Xml.XmlDocument) instance has no close member.
