HotBackup for Mariadb Using Mariabackup

We have mariadb Galera Cluster 10.2 using mariabackup as SST. I heard that mariabackup can be used to take Consistent hotbackup of production database without locking since all dbs are innoDB. Currently using mysqldump with --single-transaction ; but this gonna take longer time to backup since DBs are biGger, snapshots like mariabackup will be pretty fast. I need the following :

1) Difference in innobackupex and mariabackup ;
Is there any different in running #> innobackupex and #> mariabackup --innobackupex

2) command to use mariabackup for consistent DB backup without locking dbs in production along with compression.

3)How to apply the latest transactions or changes while we do the backups , I mean read somewhere like --apply-log , --prepare both are different and used at different occasions.

4) Restore the backup.

5) Incremental Backups as and its process.

I am not asking to do my job or anything, instead I was pretty confused, everytime I search I end up seeing its fork of xtrabackup and then diving in seeing some --innobackupex and info out there are now confusing.

Since we are using only Mariadb and mariabackup , I would like to understand that now and learn and then I will find out the others all by myself.
