Gephi: Creating Bifurcated Undirected edges

I'd like to visualize my graph slightly differently than the standard size=weight. Almost all the transactions in my dataset are bi-directional, however, the weight changes based on the direction (a-2->b; a<-1-b). Normally this would be visualized with 2 directed arrows going opposite directions, however, my audience is not used to network maps, and the map is already getting a bit cluttered. Instead, is there a way to keep the edge undirected, but have there be different weights based on the direction.
I was trying to see if I could attack attach an attribute to each of the nodes signifying their 'resistance' which would alter the weights of things coming toward them. I then hoped to signify the weight on each end by having the edges themselves display a colour gradient.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Could calculate edge weights accordingly, prior to import (Gephi does not provide for described requirement).
