Possible to set Polyshape parent to be HGTransform object?

I am trying to efficiently translate a polygon through a figure in matlab (R2018). I am currently doing this using patch():

player.block = hgtransform;
patch('XData',x,'YData',y,'FaceColor','blue','Parent',player.block);

then later...

player.block.Matrix = makehgtform('translate',[0 player.pos 0]);

This has worked pretty well. But when there are multiple patches to move the graphics lag, so instead I'm trying to use the polyshape() command. From the documentation is says you can set a Polyshape object to be the child of a transform object. I tried doing this as follows:

block = hgtransform;
square = polyshape(x,y);
player.block = plot(square);
player.block.Parent = block;

Then I get "Cannot set property to a deleted object".

How do you go about translating Polyshape objects using HGTransform / is it even possible?
