How to add elements to a JTree?
.everyoneloves__top-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__mid-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__bot-mid-leaderboard:empty{ height:90px;width:728px;box-sizing:border-box;
}
So I made a JTree and I want to add a node called "Hello" whenever a user clicks a button. Here's the function that executes when the user clicks the button:
private static void addModel() {
MainWindow mainWindow = new MainWindow();
DefaultTreeModel model = (DefaultTreeModel) mainWindow.tree1.getModel();
DefaultMutableTreeNode selectedNode = (DefaultMutableTreeNode) mainWindow.tree1.getLastSelectedPathComponent();
System.out.println("2");
if (selectedNode != null) {
selectedNode.insert(new DefaultMutableTreeNode("Hello"), selectedNode.getIndex(selectedNode.getLastChild()));
model.reload(selectedNode);
System.out.println("1");
}
mainWindow.tree1.setModel(model);
}
Basically it's supposed to get the model, get the selected node, if a node is selected, then insert a new one at the end, reload it, then set the model of the tree to the new model. The numbers printed to the console are solely to make sure each part is running, and no matter what I do, selecting different nodes or whatever, I only get 2s (aka selectedNode
is always equal to null
). Why is this, and how can I add a new component to my JTree?
