Does profile build overrides project build in pom.xml?

I am new to maven and I am working on a maven project whose pom.xml was generated with respect to springframework. I got some unanswered questions that I couldn't find or answer myself after reading these two guide:

Here are my questions:



1) Does the "local" profile build override the plugins if present also in the main build lifecycle ? My guess is yes if it is selected



2) is the main build a combination of the "local" profile build and the main build lifecycles?



3) I noticed that some plugins does not define phases or goals. does this mean
that there is a default one (plugin specific) picked by maven? My guess is yes

EDIT:



Here are my questions:



1) Does the "local" profile build override the plugins if present also in the main build lifecycle ? My guess is yes if it is selected



2) is the main build a combination of the "local" profile build and the main build lifecycles?



3) I noticed that some plugins does not define phases or goals. does this mean
that there is a default one (plugin specific) picked by maven? My guess is yes
