SDL2 window not showing

0

I downloaded and setup SDL with Visual Studio and it's initializing with no errors. I tried to create a window

#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream>
#include <SDL.h>

int main(int argc, char *argv) {

SDL_Window *window;

//Initializing SDL
SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING);
window = SDL_CreateWindow(
"Name",
SDL_WINDOWPOS_CENTERED,
SDL_WINDOWPOS_CENTERED,
800,
600,
SDL_WINDOW_SHOWN
);

SDL_Renderer* renderer = SDL_CreateRenderer(window, -1, 0);
SDL_SetRenderDrawColor(renderer, 0, 255, 0, 255);
SDL_RenderClear(renderer);
SDL_RenderPresent(renderer);

if (window == NULL) {
std::cout<<(SDL_GetError());
return 1;
}

SDL_Delay(3000);
SDL_DestroyWindow(window);
SDL_Quit();

}

The window is just not showing up for me I know it probably flashes quickly but from what I read SDL_Delay should hold it for a few seconds. I tried changing the value I'm passing to it from 3000 to 30000 but no change.

    You should have event processing in your program (wiki.libsdl.org/SDL_PollEvent). You also might want to re-draw your window frequently, as it may be overshadowed by other windows. The example you have might work in some conditions, but it is unreliable on newer operating systems. It might also be a good idea to check for error codes, e.g. SDL_Init might have failed to initialise audio or something else, which you don't really need here - why not SDL_INIT_VIDEO (and check return code anyway)?
