Conditional Rendering Select Input in Material-UI
I'm building an app that uses the Nasa API to show images of Mars in React. I want to create a filter to view different photos from different rovers and some of the cameras are different on the rovers so I made a conditional statement to render different camera options depending on the state of the rover. The problem I'm having is when I conditionally render the options and change the camera my state updates but the value in the select box remains the same. I tried mapping through the list and explicitly writing the options and it
still does not work. Here's a link to my Sandbox and the code that's the source of the problem. Thanks for the help.
// EXPLICIT METHOD
let Cameras
if (props.filter.rover === 'curiousity') {
Cameras = (
<Fragment>
<option selected value={'FHAZ'}>
FHAZ
</option>
<option value={'RHAZ'}>RHAZ</option>
<option value={'MAST'}>MAST</option>
<option value={'CHEMCAM'}>CHEMCAM</option>
<option value={'MAHLI'}>MAHLI</option>
<option value={'MARDI'}>MARDI</option>
<option value={'NAVCAM'}>NAVCAM</option>
</Fragment>
)
} else
{Cameras = (
<Fragment>
<option selected value={'FHAZ'}>
FHAZ
</option>
<option value={'RHAZ'}>RHAZ</option>
<option value={'NAVCAM'}>NAVCAM</option>
<option value={'PANCAM'}>PANCAM</option>
<option value={'MINITES'}>MINITES</option>
</Fragment>
)
}
// MAP METHOD
const CuriousityCameras = ['FHAZ', 'RHAZ', 'MAST', 'CHEMCAM', 'MAHLI', 'MARDI', 'NAVCAM']
const SpiritOpportunityCameras = ['FHAZ', 'RHAZ', 'NAVCAM', 'PANCAM', 'MINITES']
const CuriousityOptions = CuriousityCameras
.map(camera => <option value={camera}>{camera}</option>)
const SpiritOpportunityOptions = SpiritOpportunityCameras
.map(camera => <option value={camera}>{camera}</option>)
let Cameras;
if (props.filter.rover === 'curiousity') {
Cameras = CuriousityOptions
} else {
Cameras = SpiritOpportunityOptions
}
// JSX RETURN STATEMENT
<Select
native
value={props.filter.camera}
onChange={props.filterChange('camera')}
input={<FilledInput name="Camera" />}>
{Cameras}
</Select>
