How to get script to run when using redirect?

0

I have installed a email newsletter plugin on my website. In order for users to subscribe to my list they have to click on a confirmation link sent in an email.

The plugin only allows for the confirmation link to point to a page on my website. However, I need it to point to an external URL.

I tried adding a 301 redirect to the .htaccess file so the confirmation page was redirected to an external url but I then discovered that the confirmation link wasn't working.

When clicking on the confirmation link, a URL string is appended to the confirmation page URL which looks like this:

?mailpoet_page=subscriptions&mailpoet_router&endpoint=subscription&action=confirm&data=eyJ0b2tlbiI6IjQ0YjVmZSIsImVtYWlsIjoiZHhmZWF3ZGJAZ3VlcnJpbGxhbWFpbC5pbmZvIn0

The data portion of this string is dynamic so for the redirect code I matched the URL using regex.

The redirect is working fine. The problem is that whatever script that needs to run in order for users to be confirmed doesn't load properly because of the redirect.

Is there any way to get this to work? How about a Javascript redirect?
