Integrating Highmaps (highcharts-vue) into project generated by vue-cli

0

The highcharts-vue repository contains a demo that shows how to make a simple Vue app that contains a map chart.

Cloning this repository, installing the npm packages, and running using npm run dev works as expected.

However, I would like to use a Highmaps chart in an app generated by vue-cli (version 3.1.3) using the default configuration.

Steps to create new project:

  1. Copy src/js/worldmap.js from demo repository to new project.

  2. Copy MapChart.vue component to new project.

  3. Update App.js in new project to import and display MapChart instead of HelloWorld.

  4. npm install --save highcharts highcharts-vue

  5. Update main.js to match demo repository.

Result of npm run serve in new project:

Build warning: "export 'default' (imported as 'addWorldMap') was not found in './js/worldmap'

Opening the app at http://localhost:8080/ yields only an empty div and a console error: ReferenceError: Highcharts is not defined

How can I adjust src/js/worldmap.js and/or src/main.js to get the map chart to load in the browser?

  • Could you provide us with some example, where the error occurs? Maybe you would be able to reproduce it using one of sandboxes like codesandbox.io or stackblitz.com? If not, please send attach the code of your main.jsfile.

  • I suspect it's because the world.js is the UMD module type, instead of ES module build. You need to change there a way of importing Highcharts.
