Automatic numbering with different prefix on ms Access database
We have different deliveries and we assign a specific prefix depending on the type of item. For example, tubes would be "tb" and bottles "bo". We normally assign manually a number for each type of delivery. For example "tb/1, bo/1, tb/2" and so on. The number is assigned consecutively within the type of delivery. We would like Access database to automatically assign this delivery number with the specific set prefix for each item every time we receive and log a new delivery.
We have a table called "Items" with a list of all the different items that we receive and the specific prefix for each type of item. The prefix has been manually associated to each type of item. We also have another table called "Deliveries" with a drop down list that sources the item type from "Items" table.
We would like some help as we are not experts in programming but are aware that coding is the best way of doing this.
Thanks!

Sadly, SO isn't a code writing service. You may get better results posting your request to, say, Experts Exchange.
