What is the point of ArUco calibrateCameraAruco return value?

0

What is the meaning of calibrateCameraAruco return value? From the documentation here, https://docs.opencv.org/3.1.0/da/d13/tutorial_aruco_calibration.html, it stores the value of reprojection error. When I try calibrating, I get 250.3948 as the error value. I assume that, with better calibration process, the lower the error value. If the error is too high, recalibrate again until you get the lowest value possible. Let me know if my assumpsion is false.
Also, what is the ideal error value?

  • You need to provide examples, images and code so we can help. Normally calibration functions return reprojection error. In my experiments I am getting between 0.2-1.3 and mostly I am trying to stay below 0.5 value. I believe your result may have a problem. I suggest check the implementation(since it is open source) and you can have the idea.
