A question for the VS code studio for the background?

Im trying to add a background to a index html page from my CSS.

body {
background-image:url("main.jpg");

Now this doesn't work. I tried to put the image inside a folder, outside, different options - like instead of background image I used just the background properties. So is there an issue with the Microsoft VS code itself or maybe I'm doing it the wrong way!

  • Visual Studio Code is mainly a text editor. So it's not really relevant for your problem. How are you previewing your HTML page? If the background property doesn't work at all, changes are the CSS file is not read or is invalid (e.g. your snippet is missing the closing braces). Can you provide a more complete example of your code, possibly on jsfiddle.net or scratchpad.io?

  • If your photo is in the same folder as the index.html file then your path would be 'main.jpg'. If your photo is in another folder the path would be like 'foldername/main.jpg'. Check this link for further info w3schools.com/cssref/tryit.asp?filename=trycss_background-image
